Artists' Group Meeting, April 2002
Meeting Report
A meeting of the POFBA Artists' Group
was held Saturday April 6, 2002
at the home of Brad Fischer and Katherine Setar.
In attendance were Brad Fischer, Phil Gelb, Marianne McDonald,
Katherine Setar, and Toyoji Tomita and Una Nakamura.
The meeting consisted of pot luck snacks, and discussions regarding the
2002 Pauline Oliveros retrospective. What follows are some specific updates
on the upcoming retrospective concert:
- The specific schedule has become more finalized. Please refer to
the D.L.I.B.A web site for more updates (www.dliba.org). Of
particular note is the fact that the concert format has been changed.
The May 31 and June 1 concerts will still be held in The Lorraine
Hansberry Theatre. However, the program for Sunday, June 2 has been
changed. Instead, a picnic and performance of "The Grand Buddha Marching
Band" will be lead by Tom Bickley. Absolutely everyone is welcome to
participate in this work. Marianne McDonald suggested that "The Grand
Buddha. . ." be held at Yerba Buena Gardens, and Tom Bickley is looking
into that venue.
- Philip Gelb mentioned that the concerts in The Lorraine Hansberry
Theatre will need volunteers. Specifically, he needs a stage manager,
someone to help with lights and sound, stage hands, and people to take
money at the door.
